potatoes
sitting
on butter
like a pile of organs
and plates
of yellow
blood. the skin
so thin, so sweet,
and satisfying –
moreso, to bite,
than any apple. and the heat
compressed inside
and the oil like crushed
flower petals
or, somehow,
like wild bread
found on a mountain,
grown
in its natural
state.
